The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services require health care organizations to have a business continuity plan and disaster recover capability. It’s not only mandatory, but essential for an organization to recover from a disruptive event with minimal impact to patients, employees, family members and stakeholders.

Paul Seale is managing director of hospital operations at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
