The Perry Memorial Hospital Board approved the recommendation of a team of providers and staff and selected Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, to implement the Cerner Millennium® electronic health record (EHR) system. Cerner will guide the Perry staff on all levels in utilizing technology to improve the way Perry is able to deliver health care.
The Cerner Millennium EHR centers on the patient and will provide data to doctors and nurses to be used in a meaningful way. It will enable providers to enhance their patient relationships and provide guidance in creating a healthier lifestyle and tools to help track and measure it. Through the EHR's online patient portal, a patient will be able to securely message physicians and even schedule appointments.
“Perry Memorial Hospital has provided compassionate, quality health services to our community for almost 100 years,” said Annette Schnabel, president and CEO, Perry Memorial Hospital. “Collaborating with Cerner will provide us with the resources and tools to connect with our patients and invest in growing community wellness now and for the future.”
“Cerner takes pride in providing solutions for rural hospitals. Our technology solutions allow small hospitals, like Perry Memorial Hospital, to remain independent while still connecting them to the larger health care world,” said Mitchell Clark, president, Cerner CommunityWorks.
The Cerner Millennium EHR will allow Perry Memorial Hospital to connect with other health care provider organizations outside of the health care system and across the country. Schnabel said, “We chose Cerner because of their ability to help us identify risks and extend our care beyond the hospital setting – engaging and empowering our patients. Perry is moving forward into the future of health care delivery, allowing providers to spend more quality time with patients educating and influencing a healthier approach to life.”
The Cerner Millennium EHR is designed to provide physicians with a comprehensive view of a patient’s full health history, regardless of when or where care is delivered, which helps physicians make more informed care decisions and can lead to improved outcomes. Completion of Cerner implementation is anticipated for June 2018. Perry Memorial Hospital continues to grow quality health services for our communities! To learn more, visit www.perrymemorial.org.
